Constancy

Himself Came by Nicholas Roerich. 1922 1. "Constancy and steadfastness in Good is already a conquest." [Fiery World I, 304]

2. "It is necessary to learn to show balance and constancy in everything that is worthy of being kept in consciousness." [Facets of Agni Yoga 1954, 661]

3. "The beat of the heart is constant. Any irregular beat of the heart is an unnatural, unhealthy condition. Likewise, a break in one’s striving to the Supermundane is also an unnatural condition. Some will say, “But the majority of people do not think at all about the Supermundane.” And you may reply that the psychic condition of most people is not natural. …Often one’s striving turns into a dead habit; that kind of regularity brings no benefit. Every sensible structure is in need of goalfitness. Only in a state of living receptivity is it possible to affirm oneself on the path and to go forward ... and people must always maintain a state of constancy." [Supermundane, 709]

4. "The quality of calmness is good, but what is it worth if there is no constancy in it? What can we say about the impermanent courage, which is replaced by fear? ...The quality of constancy is the basis on which the flowers of all other qualities of the spirit can be embroidered. Let's understand this..." [Facets of Agni Yoga 1954, 661]

5. "...All qualities... without constancy are soap bubbles. As in masonry, this quality serves as a cement that binds the entire structure. Without it – a pile of stones. A stone hulk will not stand without cement, just as love, devotion and aspiration will not stand without constancy. ...The rhythm is good because it asserts constancy. The quality of constancy is expressed in rhythm in the simplest and easiest way." [Facets of Agni Yoga 1958, 727]

6. "... The temporality of external conditions cannot compete with the constancy and permanence of the spirit, which always wins thanks to this, if the principle of "endure to the end" is observed, that is, to withstand the test of constancy and duration of aspiration." [Facets of Agni Yoga 1954, 529]

7. "Every failure with perseverance and constancy will certainly turn into luck. You need to feel this power in yourself, triumphant over the temporality of the opposite conditions." [Facets of Agni Yoga 1954, 543]

8. "Everything is achievable – sooner or later, everything – provided constancy and persistence." [Facets of Agni Yoga 1955, 432]

9. "Water hammers the stone, the constancy of aspiration generates the possibility of realization. Everything will be achieved if the will wants it strongly enough." [Facets of Agni Yoga 1955, 371]

Tzong-Kha-Pa by Nicholas Roerich. 192410. "The constancy of aspiration and will corresponds to the constancy of achievements." [Facets of Agni Yoga 1956, 343]

11. "... The basis of longevity is rhythmic and constant work. It is difficult to extinguish an evenly burning flame." [Facets of Agni Yoga 1954, 580]

12. "... People often imagine themselves industrious, but at the first need of continuous labor they fail in spirit. …Those should be respected who are capable of continuous labor." [Aum, 505]

13. "You know the value of constant rhythmic work. You know to what an extent such great exertion opens the Gates." [Fiery World I, 379]

14. “Ponder how like a fiery ladder is steadfastness." [New Era Community, 153]

15. "... Only an iron will, iron constancy, or rhythm, can lead to the goal. ...It is the efforts we make that are the basis of all achievements. ...That's why I always regret that [some] writers,.. giving a good exposition of some of the basics of Hindu yogic systems, at the same time, with the levity of an amateur, they talk about the ease of mastering the highest achievements of Raj yogis. Novice readers take his word for it and take the prescribed exercises, and when their expectations are not met in the near future, they fall into disappointment... No one wants to think that if, in order to become an outstanding artist, or artist, or scientist, not only many accumulations in this direction in past lives (the so-called innate abilities) are needed, but also years of persistent and constant work in this life, then the most persistent aspirations to expand and discipline your consciousness… After all, spiritual achievements, as related to the growth of consciousness, are the most difficult." [Letters of Helena Roerich in 9 Volumes - 5. 103]
