Violin Concerto No. 1 Allegro by I.S. Bach

Selflessness

Attainment by Svetoslav Roerich. 1938“Selflessness ... is an ardent beautiful courage and audacity in the name of the Common Good.” [Letters of Helena Roerich in 9 Volumes - VII. 94]

“Each activity is valued ... according to the degree of selflessness that it contains. Therefore, the closest collaborators should be fully imbued with the consciousness of selflessness in the Service [of Good], and everyone should act as it would be the best under certain circumstances that arise. It is not for us to judge who did more or less, what matters is the inner fire that we put into the performance of the work entrusted to us.” [Letters of Helena Roerich in 9 Volumes - II. 78]

“It is selflessness that is the key to success. Therefore, if the aspiration… is sincere, then everything will come.” [Letters of Helena Roerich in 9 Volumes - II. 56]

“The strongest index of achievement is self-renunciation. Indeed, it is necessary to understand this cosmic concept in all its beauty. Not only on the field of battle is the spirit adorned with the power of selflessness. To traverse the path of life impetuously, to cross all lives as upon a wire, to pass over all abysses in song, is possible only for the selfless spirit. All structures which follow the cosmic designation are erected in fiery striving…” [Fiery World III. 75]

“The most unfailing way is the path of self-sacrificing achievement.” [Hierarchy, 352]

“The valor of despair means self-sacrifice. The highest valor does not expect reward. And despair expects no reward. In Our language despair is the designation of a limit. Podvig is close to this limit.” [Leaves of Moria's Garden II. 191]

“The self-sacrifice in the achievement links the spirit with the highest manifestations of Be-ness. Fullness of life may be expressed by the spirit who carries the chalice of self-sacrifice on his way toward Infinity.” [Infinity I, 117]

“The Spirit that has realized the joy of self-sacrifice is the Highest Beauty. Beauty and Self-Sacrifice are at the foundation of Being.” [Letters of Helena Roerich in 9 Volumes - IV. 81]

“… selflessness and self-sacrifice can open up the Gates of Understanding…” [Leaves of Moria's Garden II. 183]

“… evolution has never been brought about by the majority but has been realized by an unselfish minority who are ready to subject themselves to the thrusts of the ignorant.” [Nicholas Roerich. Himavat-Parapsychology]

“Indeed, the heart does not admit egoism. The heart lives in self-abnegation. Thus, strong is the heart when it is concerned about the future, not thinking about self.” [New Era Community, 111]

“But what is the judge of true selflessness? Of course, it is none other than the heart. And not just any heart, but precisely the heart that is facing Infinity.” [Heart, 190]

“Thought about help is especially useful. He who is himself in need and in straitened circumstances thinks of helping others; such self-abnegation is a great touchstone.” [Brotherhood, 523]

“Forget the word "unfeasible". Only that in which there is no power of love and self-sacrifice do not come true.” [Letters of Helena Roerich in 9 Volumes - VIII. 36]

“It is impossible to command friendship, and especially does this apply to brotherhood. These concepts require selflessness and an understanding of fundamentals.” [Brotherhood, 7]

“Even a little knowledge requires selflessness, even though it would be small. Even simple concentration makes you temporarily forget about yourself. And this is in the most ordinary things. What to say about the unusual? We can assume that the depth of achievements is measured by the ability to renounce oneself. Thus, selflessness remains the most indispensable condition for the prosperity of the spirit.” [Facets of Agni Yoga 1956, 20]
